Bells palsy

This condition is explained here. There is now a recommended treatment protocol, see BMJ. Basically:

  • prednisolone at 1mg/kg/day (<80mg) is recommended for the first week, tapered for the second.
  • Acyclovir (or equivalent antiviral) is recommenced at the zoster dose (or the simplex dose if there is no rash...but read the BMJ.)

Choroidal Naevi

Here. This (Good Hope) site's author would like to add that retinal checks for people with naevi are often needed only every year or even less frequently, and can be carried out by experienced optometrists. Initially diagnosis is usually made in an Eye Department, and patients should be discharged with a copy of their photos.
