Two monthly awards are made - for individual member of staff of the month and team of the month. These then go forward, along with other nominees, to be entered into annual awards, which will be made at a ceremony that takes place during the annual general meeting in September.
There are eight categories you can choose from. Whatever category you choose, the member or staff or team will be considered for the monthly awards during the year. They will also be considered for the annual awards in their individual categories.
Individual: An
individual member of staff who has made an exceptional contribution to the successful
running of the hospital and the wellbeing of the patients we treat, the visitors
and staff who work here.
Team: A team which has made an exceptional contribution to
the successful running of the hospital and the wellbeing of the patients we
treat, the visitors and staff who work here.
Volunteer: A volunteer who has made an exceptional contribution
to the successful running of the hospital and the wellbeing of the patients
we treat, the visitors and staff who work here.
Clinical excellence: A member of staff or a team who, by their
work, exemplifies the highest clinical standards in providing or developing
services for patients and their carers
Patient care: A member of staff or team who set the highest
standard of patient care, in its broadest sense, in the humane, caring and thoughtful
way it is delivered.
Hospital environment: A member of staff or team which has made
an outstanding contribution to the preservation and development of hospital
facilities - for instance in terms of cleanliness, maintenance of buildings
and the grounds.
Innovation: A member of staff or team which has helped develop
new and ground-breaking services or delivered traditional services in new ways
that benefit patients, staff or the hospital.
Public contribution: A member of the public or organisation
that has contributed to the wellbeing of the hospital. It could be in a number
of ways, for instance fundraising, expert advice or advocacy in the community.
The Chairman will have the Trust’s values in mind when assessing nominations for awards. They are:
1. Accountability -
Developing clear direction and leadership at all levels in the organisation,
demanding high standards and having just accountability throughout.
2. Excellence - Taking pride in doing our best, improving
through focusing on best practice, setting high standards through leading by
example and satisfying the needs of our patients and their carers.
3. Honesty - Being truthful with patients, each other
and the community we serve, taking responsibility for the consequences of that
honesty.
4. Learning - Having a thirst for knowledge and a culture
of continuous improvement, with education, training, research and development
fully integrated within the core purpose of the organisation.
5. Openness - Being clear and open with our communications,
sincere in our actions, welcoming in our approach and valuing scrutiny as a
means of improvement.
6. Partnership - Nurturing a culture of participation,
listening and respecting the views of other, valuing diversity, working collaboratively,
focusing on teamwork and developing inter-dependent relationships, both within
and outside the organisation.
