Good Hope nurse heads national clinical organisation
A senior nurse at Good Hope Hospital has been given a high profile position in a national clinical organisation.
Mark Radford has become President of the B ritish Anaesthetic & Recovery Nurses Association. He is the first nurse to hold the office – which in the past has been usually held by the doctor.
The move reflects the high regard the association has for Mark’s talent and the increasing recognition that nurses are receiving for their contribution to decision-making at the highest level of the medical profession.
Mark is a Consultant Nurse in Peri-operative Care at Good Hope Hospital. He leads a highly trained specialist team of nurses who ensure patients are properly prepared for surgery.
Commenting on his appointment, Mark said: “I’m excited by the opportunity to work with my colleagues across the country.
“The association has an exciting future ahead and I’ll be setting out plans for how we can guide and advise healthcare organisations on delivering high standards in clinical care.”
Mark has pioneered the role of nurses in this field. Earlier this year he was among a group of leading NHS staff invited to Downing Street to meet Tony Blair and explain their work.
Mark is 32 years old, married with two children and lives in Walmley.Source : Good Hope
