Midwife recognised for outstanding care

Midwife Michelle Beams is presented with a Chairmans Award watched by Dawn Cattermole and her partner Andrew Collett who she helped through the stillbirth of their daughter. Dawn, 31, and Andrew, 34, from Kingstanding, nominated Michelle and Trust Chairman Nicky Lloyd chose her for the award. Dawn said: Michelle is a credit to the delivery suite and is a lady we will never forget. If it wasnt for the kind, caring and sensitive approach from Michelle we would never have found the strength and courage to deal with our loss. Nominating Michelle for a Chairmans Award is our way of saying thank you for the care received while in hospital. It has made our grieving process much easier knowing how gentle Michelle was when seeing our baby. Nicky Lloyd, pictured left, said: Michelle is such a worthy winner of this award. Its clear her professionalism and compassion has made a real difference in the most difficult of circumstances. The monthly awards recognise exceptional contributions made by individual members of staff and teams. Those nominated are then entered into an annual awards ceremony. Nicky Lloyd said: We are very pleased patients can express their thanks to staff for their hard work by nominating them for a Chairmans award. It is a real boost for our staff to be recognised in this way. If you would like to nominate a member of staff at Good Hope Hospital for a Chairmans Award, contact the Chairman and Chief Executives office on: 0121 378 6262.
