Welcome to Accident & Emergency

Image: Picture of A&EOpen 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, for anyone in need of urgent treatment because of accident or illness.

When should I visit A&E?
If you have a condition that requires; immediate attention or stitches, had an accident which may require an X-ray, are suffering from chest or severe pain elsewhere or breathlessness you should come straight to A&E.

Patients are assessed and given a priority on arrival and you could be waiting some considerable time if your condition is minor or easily treatable.

If you are suffering from a condition that has been causing you small discomfort but you would normally visit your GP or a dentist for treatment, it may be more appropriate for you do do this than visit A&E.
