The Freedom of Information Act 2000
came into effect on January 1st 2005. The Freedom of Information
Act 2000 requires all Public bodies, including NHS Hospitals, to
make available information about their organisation. This is not
a new idea and Good Hope Hospital has been actively promoting openness
with the public for a number of years.
The aim of the Act is to provide a culture, which is committed
to openness, whereby an array of information will be available
in the
public arena, about Good Hope Hospital. The Act does not allow for
personal information to be made available, this is covered by the
Data Protection Act 1998.
At the centre of the Act is the requirement to produce a Publication
Scheme. The Publication
Scheme offers guidance on what information
will be available as a matter of routine, and how the information
can be obtained, subject to certain exemptions.
Requests for information can be made in writing to the Information
Governance Office situated in Block 15, Good Hope Hospital NHS Trust
or by Email at [email protected]
Any requests for information about the Trust, should in the first
instance be forwarded to the Information Governance Office. If
the request is covered by the Freedom of Information Act it
will be responded
to accordingly. All other requests will be forwarded on to the
appropriate person or department.
