December 2008 Newsletter...probably the last

Unsuccessful..we are not active at present   |   Discretionary points

We were unsuccessful in cancelling the new contract

  1. for Associate Specialists (AS), the new contract makes a variable difference. I was offered a small pay rise (and probably will accept), my colleagues offered extra work for the same money!!
  2. for Staff Grades, their top salary in the new grade will be £25k less than AS. I am sorry we were not able to help, but we did try.
  3. In addition, responses from AS and SG generally were poor. I could not locate much 'will' to pursue this action. If any of you would like to take this further, and try and form a new union, (a BMA for AS and SG) please let me know. This was one of my aims, but apart from support from a few key members, I was unsuccessful. I was not able to commit a lot of time...all of us are very busy at work, and I have been especially busy. But unless we act together and form a new body, we will be doomed in making progress.
  4. I would especially like to thank Grant, Shah, Angela, Josephine, and Redrod and the many others that helped tremendously.

I would like to thank you all for your help. Without the Hospital Doctor magazine, and with no help (and negative actions) from the BMA, we had an impossible job.

The group is not active at present.
