Work - Life Balance

Work life balance

Work-Life Balance is for everyone at every level within the NHS.

All NHS employees, including GPs, Practice and Dentistry staff, plus students now have access to a Work-Life Balance Co-ordinator (formerly Childcare Co-ordinator)

Work-Life Balance is part of Improving Working Lives (IWL), the NHS initiative to support staff at work

What is Work-Life Balance?

The main aim of this is to promote a healthy balance between working responsibilities, care commitments and flexible working options.

Work-Life Balance is about developing a modern and more productive patient focus workforce. It incorporates policies to meet individual staff needs, including the care of children and adult dependants, also helping people asses their financial commitments.

The Improving Working Lives (IWL) initiative involves employers and employees working together to improve the working life of the individual, whilst maintaining high standards of service.

Promoting a healthy work-life balance ensures we do not lose vital skills and aids recruitment, retention, returns to work and the reduction of absenteeism.

What is the role of a Work-Life Balance Co-ordinator?

To promote a healthy balance between working responsibilities and other commitments outside of work, by advising employees on what services are available to them.

To support managers in the delivery of national and local Work-Life Balance targets. With the aim of motivating staff and giving them greater control of their working lives.
