The benefits of the system are briefly mentioned below:
Proven to reduce short-term sickness.
Proven to improve retention of staff.
Reduces amount of time the Ward Manager spends doing off duty.
Empowers staff in having some control in what they work.
Fair and just system.
Monitors valid registration - (PIN numbers.)
Monitors sickness/absence.
Ability to monitor attendance.
Following a successful Pilot during
April 2002 and March 2003 we are in the process of rolling the
system out
to the rest of the Trust.
The Trust has achieved the following awards as a result of using
the system successfully
.
- The Trust has become a ‘Beacon of Excellence
in Stress Prevention’ following a recent external assessment by the
Health & Safety Executive who identified the self rostering
system as “one excellent example of a primary intervention … to
allow staff to tackle the pressure of having to organise work life
and home life”.
- Improving Staff Morale category winners in
the 2003 Excellence in Strategic Human Resource Management
awards.
