Key Areas of Responsibility
Overall responsibility for human resources lies with the Human Resources Director.
The Human Resources Director is responsible for human resource services,
occupational health and the training and development needs of the Trust.
Policies
There are a significant number of HR policies and procedures, which are advised
to all staff at their induction. More details are available from the publication
Scheme Co-ordinator.
Communicating with Staff
The majority of these policies have been developed in consultation with our
staff through Joint Consultation and Negotiating Committee, one of the formal
mechanisms through which we communicate with our staff. More details of these
meetings are available from the Publication Scheme Co-ordinator.
We also communicate with staff through a two-monthly newsletter
and a series of formal and informal briefings at locality, service
and team levels. Staff are also involved in the internal working
groups of the Trust at all levels.
Communication Forum
A forum has been established to look at all aspects of communication within
the Trust.
Improving Working Lives
The Trust was successful in achieving Improving Working Lives Practice Standard
and is on going in its commitment to improving work life balance for all
staff. The IWL Steering group and 8 associated forums are facilitated by
Sara Brown, the Improving Working Lives Facilitator. Email: [email protected]
Diversity and Equality
The Trust looks at all aspects of diversity and equality and has produced a
race equality scheme, which covers both service provision and staff employment
issues.
Paying our Staff
The physical process of paying our staff is contracted out to Payroll Services
at the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust. The majority of staff who
have pensions are contracted in to the NHS Pensions Agency (www.nhspa.gov.uk).
Recruitment and Retention
The Trust has an in-house personnel team who deal with recruitment and retention.
Workforce Development Confederation
The Trust is linked to the Birmingham and The Black Country Workforce Development
Confederation, contact details can be found at www.wmcconfed.nhs.uk.
The Human Resources Director is the designated link with the Birmingham and
The Black Country Workforce Development Confederation from the Trust.
Training and Development
Training & Development Manager, Bev Edgar, and Training Manager, Sara Brown,
have responsibility for the development of the training and development needs
for the Trust.
